Webb-Avery muchbetter bat than his average makes him out to be. Hits much harder than he did last year , and can cut well . His strokes on the leg side are still the feature of his game . Lost confidence at one time , partly through a run of bad luck ,partly through over- anxiety . Ahard -working field , covering a lot of ground ; seldom lets anything go by or misses a catch . Agood and inspiring captain . *H. S. Chinnock-Amost useful all -round player , a good hard -hitting bat with plenty of confidence ; though he has no idea of cutting , still his defence is sound and he scores fast . A safe field and the best bowler on the side , though he started badly . Always tries his hardest under any circumstances . B. A. Bailey -Bats left -handed , and in very good style . Has some delightful strokes on the off -side , but is occasionally inclined to throw his wicket away by playing carelessly , A remarkably good point , stands close in and stops everything he can reach , while he has the true point's instinct to move where the ball is likely to come. *H. R. Blunt-Has been a failure with the bat , as he plays in very stiff style and always falls a victim to a yorker But his field- ing would have compensated for even worse batting failures . Has lately returned
