T H EUNIVERSITIESA N DPUBLICS C H O O L SIN 1893 1 5 5 Never did a s BRADFIELD ELEVEN IN 1893.-W. E. M. Tyndall (captain ) : himself justice as a bat until after the term ; a first rate field at point ; captain keen and energetic , but handicapped by being necessarily absent from several matches . F. T. Anderson : A hard hitting if somewhat ugly bat ; too anxious to score at once ; kept wicket at times brilliantly ; would have done even better but for bad wickets . G. D. Dahse : Avery keen , pains -taking player , useful as a change bowler ; his batting suffered perhaps most of any one fromthe badwicket ; worked hard in the field . A. Hinde: Agood slow to medium bowler, right hand, with acapital break from the off and change of pace ; sometimes however lost his head and his pitch ; hadthe best batting average , but though a careful player with a good eye, plays across the ball too much. R. C. Page: A batwith avery good style , spoilt by attitudes which he should try and get rid of ; might become first -class ; a very fair field as a rule . G. H. Hewetson : Very promising both as a bat and bowler ; handicapped last year by a strained side ; an uncertain field . H. F. Stopford : Avery young player , whoshapes well as a bat but disappointed his side , no doubt, owing to the bad wicket ; terribly stiff and slow inthe field , is however, safe at a deep field catch , but on the other hand cannot throw in from a distance . W. G. King-Peirce : Most disappointing as a bat, as he makes no use of his height and length of reach ; improved after the end of the term; a good out-field , with a safe pair of hands , W. O. Cautley : A very fair , fast-mediumbowler of his day ; a very unsafe , though at times a brilliant field ; has no idea of bating ; handicapped much by ill health . H. E. Haig : As a bowler , a useful change , fast mediam, with generally a fair length , but apt to lose heart ; very disappointing as a bat, as he made no use of his undoubtedly fine hitting powers ; a capital deep-field . C. H Parker : Watches the ball well, but has a very ugly style , should improve if he can learn to play from the shoulder ; very steady , consistent change bowler . B R I G H T O N C L L E G E .
