Bathurst (Radley andTrinity ) : Thoroughly earned his place in the eleven . Avery useful slowleft -hand bowler , a steady andvery patient bat, with a curious style , but always likely to stay in . Good field.- G. F. H. Berkeley (Wellington and Keble) : Wasable to play in only the last few inatches , but proved invaluable as a bowler . Varied his pace more this season , and metwith great success , especially in the matchagainst Cambridge. Shows stubborn defence as a bat, and often gives a lot of trouble .-W. H. Brain(Clifton and Oriel ) : Kept wicket splendidly throughout the season , surpassing himself against the Australians . Played some good innings at the beginning of the year but on the whole was disappointing as a bat.-C. B. Fry (Repton and Wadham): Adangerous bat. Played some fine innings , but not thoroughly to be relied on. D i d good service on occasion as a bowler . Medium-pace right -hand. Goodfield anywhere.-W. D. G. Leveson -Gower ( Winchester and Magdalen) Agoodbatsman, watching the ball well ; has some excellent strokes , especially on the off side . Agood field at cover -point .-G. J. Mordaunt, (Wellington and University ). Hardly fulfilled the good promise he gave at school andin the early part of the season : played one or two beautiful innings , but seemed to lose his nerve in the later matches . A magnificent field , especially in the country.- L. C. H. Palairet , (Captain ) (Repton and Oriel ): Scarcely played up to his splendid form of the previous season , but undoubtedly one of the finest batsmen ever in the eleven . A smart field , useful at times as a bowler .-R. C. N. Palairet (Repton and Oriel ) : Severely handicapped both as a batsman and in the field by an injured knee; has a very pretty and easy style , and played some good innings .-R. W. Rice (Jesus ) :s A very patient and sound batsman, but did not fulfil the expectations raised by his fine per- formances for Gloucestershire in the previous year. Agood field in the country . - T. S. B. Wilson (Bath College and Trinity ) : A very steady fast right -hand bowler, with a good ball that comes with his arm. Avery fair field , moderate bat.-J. B. Wood(Marlborough and Balliol ) : Met with poor success this year as a lob bowler . Uses his head well, but without enough " stuff " in the ball to defeat a good player . Useful bat on occasion , and a good field
