The excellent form shewn by the Eton eleven against Winchester fully warranted the belief that Harrow, who were admittedly weaker than they had been for some years past , had only got an outside chance . The result of the game completely justified this estimate . The Etonians were, in fact , decidedly the better side in batting as well as in bowling , and the only department in which Harrowhad the best of a comparison was in the fielding ; still the cricket all round washardly of a high quality , and neither eleven was up to the best standard of the match. A n exception might be made in favour of the Eton wicket -keeper, H. T. Meeking. In the second innings he helped to get rid of five of the ten bats- m e n, four caught and one stumped. Harrison , of Eton (fast ), was the next most successful bowlerin the match. Etonw o nb ynine wickets. Harrowhas w o n29 of the 67 matches so far played , Eton 27. The other eleven were unfinished .
