James Lillywhite's Cricketers' Annual 1893

2 2 LILLYWHITE'SCRICKETERS' A N N U A L. this was the only weakness in the cricket . Still , on the whole, from the stand- point of the game, as it certainly was socially , the tour was a great success . Lord Sheffield and his men everywhere met with a hearty welcome , and the teamcannot fail to retain a pleasing recollection of their reception on all sides . A salready stated , the success of the Australians in the two test matches wasthe meansof reviving the old enthusiasm for cricket in the Colonies , and this , at all events , will be more than compensation for any disappointment that mayhave been felt at the time about the defeats . The general results , as well as the doings of the various membersof the team, will be found in the statistics which follow. F I R S TM A T C H. L o r dSheffield's T e a mv. S o u t hAustralia.
