Bats in neat style , and will in all likelihood yet develop into a goodbatsman; a sure field . JOHNSTON, A. S. A n exceedingly good bat, with strong defence and great hitting powers ; a capital field . LUCAS, A. P. (Uppinghamand Cambridge). Makesmore runs than any one else in local matches, but fails in first -class ; fair bowler, and poorish field , from want of energy. CHARD, H. W. A medium-pace bowler, keeping a good length , and uses his h e a d. CROOME, A. C. M. (Wellington and Oxford). A useful all -round cricketer ; hits veryhard; a good field , and at times of service as a change bowler. EVANS, D. L. (Loretto ). Apromising young cricketer ; bats steadily and well . GRACE, E. M. Still a very effective bat, with a good eye for hitting ; plays in a style of his own; a splendid field . GRACE, W. G. Still one of the very best batsmen of the day ; hits all round freely , and times the ball with extraordinary precision ; bowls with great success , having a high delivery , and varying his pace and pitch with great judgment. FERRIS, J. J. Did not bowl at all up to his form in 1892 , but has becomea first- rate bat, and quick in the field ; his bowling will return again when backed bygood fielding . KITCAT , S. A. P. (Marlborough ). A real good bat , but lays down a little too muchin playing ; fair field ; bowls a little , mediumpace. LUARD, CAPTAIN A. H. (Cheltenham ). A very fair bat, but brilliant in the field ; there is not a quicker cover in England. PAGE, H. V. (Cheltenham and Oxford ). Ahard -working and excellent all -round cricketer ; bowls medium-round , at times with great success ; rarely fails to makeruns , and fine field anywhere. PULLEN, W. W. F. A fine bat, with a capital stroke just in front of point ; good field ; played little last year. RADCLIFFE, O. G. A very useful all -round cricketer ; a safe and reliable bat, and useful change bowler (slow round ), with considerable break . (Lord Sheffield's Australian Team, 1891-92 .) RICE, R. W. (Oxford ) . Has a very fine defence , and is very steady ; occasionally drives a fast bowler over his head; whenW. G. retires will makethe best bat in Gloucestershire ; slow, but sure field .
