Lockwoodand Lohmanneach got 151 wickets , but the former had muchthe better figures . H e was emphatically the best bowler of the year, and on all wickets equally successful , and the pace at which he madethe ball comeback at times caused himto be unplayable . Five bowlers delivered over one thousand overs . These were Briggs , Attewell , Lohmann, J. T. Hearne, and Peel, and of these Briggs had the best analysis . Attewell bowled more than either of the others , and had the creditable average of just over 14 runs for 144 wickets . Although on several occasions Lohmannbowled with great success for Surrey , hewashardly as effective as in 1891 , a remark which will apply also to Hearne and Peel . Though Mold did not bowl as muchas Briggs by nearly three hundredovers , he only got four wickets less , and for a fast bowler his record was very creditable , only inferior , in fact , to that of Lockwood. A m o n gthe juniors w h ohave lately shownsigns of coming to the front , Walter Hearne made a still further advance last year. Kentbids fair to have in himpresently a bowler of quite first -class capacity . 1 0 0W I C K E T S A N DO V E R. O v e r s. M a i d e n s. R u n s. Wickets. Average.
