Beard : A n unlucky bat, with a ten- dency to l.b.w .; hits hard and clean , and with stronger defence should do extremely well ; good mediumbowler on his day, but should not try to bowl too fast ; fair field , inclined to be slack . T. H. Dashwood : A moderate bat , seldom successful , but has some good strokes ; good clean field . R. O'H. Livesay : A promising player ; has not many strokes at present , but plays in good correct style , and is sure to come on rapidly ; very fair field . C. A. Ketchen : A laborious but unsuccessful bat; has bowled fairly on occasions ; poor field . E. R. M. English : A strong bat, but at the present very unsound, and has not learned to makeuse of his power ; should be useful next year ; fair field . F. R. Benson : Avery fair fast bowler, but should practice a shorter run and greater accuracy ; a well meaningbat. *A. M. Labouchere : A disappointing bat, too fondof the on side ; energetic field .
