Warner : A really first -class bat, with perfect and finished style , especially strong on the off, but often too gentle on the leg side ; moderate change bowler and smart field ; as captain , deserves great praise for his energy . *S. Slater : Powerful bat , hitting hard all round, and scoring at a great rate ; good fast round-arm bowler , often altering his pace cleverly , and coming quickly off the pitch ; greatly improved in the field . G. M . Thompson: W a sunable to take part in anymatch owing to bad health ; wouldhave very materially strengthened the teamboth in batting and bowling. J. F. Marshall : Disappointing in manyways ; a safe , but not too active out- field ; must improve if he wishes to keep his place in the team next year . A.
