M A L V E R NE L E V E NIN 1892.-* H . K .Foster: W i t h o u td o u b to n e of the best school bats of the year ; his average suffered from being dead out of form during the first part of the season ; plays in excellent style , and has great punishing powers ; an excellent short slip , and fair change bowler . *W. L. Foster: Verylittle inferior to his brother as a batsman; plays muchstraighter than formerly , and when set punishes the bowling unmercifully ; an excel . lent field in the country , and a thorough cricketer . *C. H. Ransome : If he took plenty of pains , has the making of a first -class bat ; has great driving power, but is weak in the slips ; a safe field , and fair change bowler . Т. В. Rhodes: Ought to turn out a first -class wicket -keeper , if he was steadier on his legs; at times is quite brilliant ; a muchimproved bat, who has often done goodservice . *F. W . Romney: W h e nhe got into form played some excellent cricket ; developed a strong drive , but is weak with short balls ; still very slow , though safe , in the field . W. W. Lowe : At times bowled really well , but still lacks command over the ball ; a hard-hitting bat, and much improved field . *S. R. Hignell : Played a fine " century " against Repton, and has more than fulfilled his promise of last year ; plays very straight , though rather compressed in style ; a poor point . G. H. Nevile : Has done the lion's share of the bowling , and till he was clearly over -worked bowled extremely well , with plenty of variety of pace ; a hard -working field , and moderate bat . C. J. Burnup : Avery useful memberof the eleven ; a most serviceable change bowler , with a decided curl ; can stop most things at mid-off , and is a promising , though curiously unsuccessful , bat. *J. R. H. Newitt : Avery energetic cricketer , who has thoroughly deserved his colours ; is likely to make runs at the end of an innings , and is agood field in the country . *J. H. J. Webb : Plays with a very straight bat , and on occasions has shown good form ; a moderate field . *C. J. Jones (12th man) : Hashad hard luck for the last two seasons ; akeen cricketer , w h ohas deserved moresuccess with the bat ; an excellent field . 1 2
