W .Rix: Themost useful bat andbowler in the eleven ; unfortunately health has prevented him playing much. E. Slocock : Bats with confidence , but till latterly has hardly shownhis true form in batting or wicket -keeping . W. W. Underwood : Avery straight bat ; hardly severe enough to loose balls ; his fielding is as thorough and fearless as ever ; captain for 1893. E. O. Foster : Can bat excellently at the nets , but is lacking inconfidence in a match ; a somewhat lucky, but useful , fast bowler ; a safe field . G. T. Floyd : Left-hand bowler ; has an easy action , and uses his head; a hard hitter , weak in defence ; good field . J. M. Brydone : A dashing and run-getting bat , with weak back play ; a poor field . H. D. Floyd : Average bat, excellent hitting powers ; generally makes runs ; excellent field on his left- handside . C. F. Drake : Has greatly improved as a bat through the season , generally making runs ; a slow bowler , with a large off break and no pitch ; a good outfield , poor elsewhere . J. S. Bostock : Has not fulfilled his early pro- mise; a fair field ; his batting is spoilt by timidity and flourish . H. E. Cave- Brown-Cave : A bowler seldom hit ; his balls are straight , but as a rule too short to do muchexecution ; a hard hitter when in form. E. Haigh: An erratic round-armbowler, but has got wickets and a good average ; a very poor bat, but a very good field . C. C. Carter : Would be a dangerous bat if he could loosen his limbs and hit less stiffly ; does not knowhowto play a short ball ; might develop into a bowler. M A L V E R N C O L L E G E .
