Bosworth- Smith: A fine defensive bat, and improved greatly towards the end of the season; played a good innings at Lord's ; good point . *A. I. Paine : good all- roundm a n; capital bat ; 115 v. Household Brigade ; and very fair bowler (mediumright ) ; nailing field at short slip . *F. G. H. Clayton : Goodbat , with a lovely off -drive, cuts very hard; fair bowler ; sharp in the field ; handicapped b ya sprained knee towards the end of the season ; 56 v. Household Brigade . C. S. Rome: Fair bat, but unlucky at the beginning of the season ; capital good bowler (medium right ) ; safe catch , and a good field anywhere; captain for 1893. *C. J. L. Rudd : Capital good fast bowler , bowled well throughout the season; could hit very hard, though handicapped by a bad hand. *E. A. Philcox : A dashing bat, but rather erratic ; brilliant field ; and very good bowler (medium right ) ; played a good innings at Lord's . K. A. Woodward : Verygood bat , and played several good innings during the season ; wonderful good long -field , safe to hold a catch . *A . A. Torrens : Nice free bat , playeda good innings of 80 v. TheTown; good change bowler, and safe field . A. M. Porter : Very hard hitter , and plays with any amount of confidence ; very good wicket -keeper , and very quick . J. T.
