A. Studd : Prevented by indifferent health from showing his true form; has a fine defence , and some excellent strokes ; an excellent ground-field , but an in- secure catch . * V. R. Hoare : Headsthe averages ; a fine , commandingbat, at times too eager to score , especially off the leg -stump ; has been exceedingly use- ful; a steady mediumbowler, and anexcellent field . *E. Lane-Fox : A useful left -handslow bowler ; steady and consistent bat ; generally safe for twenty runs ; a fine field at short slip . G. E.
