Grace : Managedhis eleven well in the field , and showed good judgment ; his medium-pace bowling was successful , and he is a quick and sure field ; in batting he lost form, and seemed unable to regain it, though he took muchpains . *H. R. Wansey: Is a very good field at point, and a fair bat and change bowler. H. N. Perrin : Is a good field , and bowls sometimes ; he was not as successful as had been hoped with the bat. J. H. Curtis : Is a good and stylish bat and drives well , and a good field ; he w a sunfortunately absent for some part of the season . *W. A. Bieber : Promised well in batting , but fell off , and showed weakness in back play ; he is a dangerous , but erratic , fast bowler and a fair field . C. L. Townsend : Is a very promising slow bowler, with great commandof the ball , and break both ways; hebats patiently , and is difficult to dislodge , as he gets very well over the ball . *J. Cornes : Showedextraordinary improvement in batting ; he has a determined style and wonderful eye ; seldom misses a leg ball , and often cuts brilliantly ; he is not a safe field , though very painstaking . *H. E. Horner : Bats correctly and in good style , and is sharp and keen in the field . G. Huddleston : Canhit , but is weak in defence ; he is a good safe field , and can keep wicket. A. S. Jackson : Is a steady , but rather plain , fast right -hand bowler ; not a strong bat , though he sometimes made a useful stand . *W. H,
