O. Smith (Captain ) : Has had the unprecedented record of being captain three successive years , in two of which he obtained the highest averages ever recorded in our annals ; a splendid bat in defence andhitting ; has a beautiful back cut and a magnificent off -drive ; is a perfect field anywhere, and a most dangerous change bowler, though not so successful this as in former years ; has proved the best captain Charterhouse has had for manyyears , and is the best school bat of the year. *G. A. Gardiner : Agood steady bat, but has not been very successful this season ; as a change bowler has been very useful indeed ; good field . H. Crabtree : Hasunfortunately been unable to play during almost the whole of the season . *E. B. Winch: A n excellent bat ; perfect on the off side , with a grand drive ; has scored most con- sistently all the season ; poor field . E. H. Bray : A good dangerous bat ; hits perhaps a little too muchwhenhe first goes in ; a very fair wicket -keeper, but wants practice ; excellent field elsewhere . W. B. Baker : A good left -hand bowler, with a good length and break ; has done a great deal of work for us this season ; should take more pains in the field ; improving bat. *C. H. Blake : A fair left -hand bowler, whodid very well at the beginning of the season , though he fell off at the end ; fair bat, but poor field . F. L. Fane ; Avery steady but painstaking bat ; has often been very useful in keeping up his wicket ; good field ; should do very well next year. E. Anderton : A good fast right -hand bowler ; proved very useful towards close of season ; fair bat , but uncertain field . *R. J. Salt : Has batted very well all the time he played for the eleven ; very good field in the country . W. A. E. Austen : Use- ful change bowler , left -handed , with a good length , but did not play till late in season ; fair bat and good field ,
