Collins : Beganthe season badly, but towards the end of the season played several brilliant innings , his splendid eye and nerve making his peculiar defence effective enough, while his hitting powers were undoubted ; a splendid field and keen captain . *H. J. Smith : His wantof nerve prevented him, except in one match, from using his great reach and hitting powers ; bowls straight and fast (right hand) with great variety of pitch ; a slow but sure field . C. G. Smith : A really good bowler , with a nice easy action , breaks both ways, and is able to keep a very good length ; in batting has a cramped style , but is not easily dislodged ; a very fair field at short slip . D. Potter : By assiduous practice developed a very fair defence against anything but a yorker or a long-hop, and played several useful innings ; is an excellent field , and bowls a little . A. H. Belcher : A disappointing bat, with a good eye andwrist , but stands awkwardly, getting his left foot in front of his bat ; his wicket-keeping was meritorious , but the fast wickets were too muchfor him. E.B. Jacques : Aplucky bat, able to punish loose bowling , but with no sure defence against a good length ball ; a reliable field , and able to keep wicket fairly to slows . L. E. Dolman : In batting did not get beyond a straight , but mechanical kind of defence , not safe against surprises ; a useful deep field , able to cover a great deal of ground. *W. G. Price : Bats , with great vigour for a youngster , in excellent style ; ought to bowl some day, but at present , though he gets some spin on the ball , has little command of pitch ; a smart field . *F. H. Forbes : Bowled well at the beginning of the season , but soon fell off ; bats in clumsy style , but with great vigour ; his fielding is capricious . *L. F. Renny : Ayoungand somewhattimorous performer with the bat ; bowls fairly well, getting considerable spin on the ball ; an excellent field . *A. T. Miller : Has learnt to keep his bat straight , but always gets out whenhe tries to hit ; fields pluckily , but in awkward style . C H A R T E R H O U S E S C H O O L . Captain for 1892 , G. O. Smith.
