Lempriere : Batted brilliantly at the beginning of the season ; a first -rate field at cover -point ; afair bowler on a slow wicket. M. A. Edwards (Captain) : Aslow bat, with good defence but nohitting powers; as a bowler (fast right -hand), was successful and kept a fair length ; a goodfield and captained efficiently . H. G. Hughes - Games : Avery careful and steady bat , though slow to score at first ; a poor and disappointing field ; not successful as a bowler. IW. L. Donaldson : Makes runs against loose bowling , buthasno defence at all ; a slack field ; bowled with varying success ; his slows are useless and costly . F. P. Long : Madegreat improvements in batting and played one or two very fine innings ; came off as a change bowler ; weak in the field . L. R. Lempriere : With a good style and fair eye ought to have madea first -rate bat; one of the best in the field , but slovenly at times ; kept wicket creditably and was successful with the ball a few times . U. G. Perry : Not a very taking bat , with poor defence ; a hard -working field and a fair change
