Berkeley (Wellington and Keble) : A good left -handed slow bowler, with a curl in the air ; a moderate field , but can bat better than people think . W. H. Brain (Clifton and Oriel ) : Did not keep wicket so well as in 1891 , probably owing to ill health ; a fair batsmen. T. B. Case (Winchester and Magdalen) : A thoroughly sound bat, played a good innings with Fry against Cambridge whenit was wanted ; a painstaking field . C. B. Fry(Repton and W a d h a m) : Adangerous but uncertain batsman, with a good stroke on the leg -side ; splendid field anywhere. M .R. Jardine (Fettes andBalliol ) : A most reliable batsman throughout the season , and thoroughly deserved his splendid success at Lord's ; being in the schools seemed to agree withhim; as a fieldsman , in any position , has no superior at the present time . R. T. Jones (Etonand N e w) : Played some good innings , especially one against M.C.C. at Lord's ; was unfortunate in being run out several times ; good field . V. T. Hill (Winchester andOriel ) : Amost dashing left -handedhitter , his innings of 114 against Cambridge will never be forgotten ; beautiful field at short slip , and in the country . F. A. Phillips (Rossall and Exeter ) : Batted well in the early matches, but plays back too much on fast wickets ; a fair field . L. C. H. Palairet (Repton and Oriel ) : A splendid batsman, with fine style , hitting well all round, his second innings against Cambridge was invaluable ; a capital field ; useful change bowler ; a very good captain . S. B. Wilson (Bath College and Trinity ) : A fast right -handed bowler, very straight , and comes a bit with his arm; fair field , and hits up a few runs sometimes . J. B. Wood (Marlborough and Balliol ) :l Avery useful lob bowler , placing ola most ofhis fields on the on side , once or twice met with great success ; useful bat and goodfield .
