James Lillywhite's Cricketers' Annual 1893
P R E F A C E . YEARby year the public interest in cricket increases with certainly no shadow of a sign of any abatement. This increase brings with it additional responsibilities for those who have to record the varying incidents of the game. The directors of the ANNUAL, in loyal recog- nition of the duties imposed, have done their best to present , as fully as possible , the history of our cricket lives from year to year. The twenty-second edition of the Red Book gives , in a comprehensive form , every incident of any general interest in a more than ordinarily busy and successful season . " O n their own merits modest m e nare dumb." Still the hearty reception the ANNUALhas always had assures those responsible for its appearance that increasing labours will meet with a corresponding increase of support .
