Ulyett (55 and18), Hall (13 and 48), and Wardall , the colt (29 not out and 51), played the best cricket for Yorkshire . Lancashire , 278 and 72 (two wickets ) ; total , 350. Lancashire at their second attempt succeeded , curiously , in tieing their first total . Nottingham had 123 to get , and thanks to Mr. Dixon's brilliant 48 and Barnes' (not out) 47, these were madein two hours. Notts w o n b y seven wickets . Nordid they do anybetter on going in again ; indeed , the best scorer in either innings was Mr. L. C. Palairet (37) in the first , and Mr. S. M. J. Woods(not out 38) in the second .
