Hicks , Captain (26.6 ) : Avery fine bat on a lively wicket , with splendid play to the off ; fair bowler ; good cricketer all round ; energetic captain . W. Chattell (29.1 ) : A very careful bat and a sure run-getter , especially on a slow wicket ; brilliant field and good bowler , with leg break ; has all the makingof a first -class man. H. Cobb (19.3 ) : Pretty and taking bat,but must learn to pay due respect to the wicket -keeper ; fine bowler onhis day, with break either way; too timid of being hit ; great promise . E. Hicks (13.6): Left -handed bowler ; very unplayable whenhe has found his pitch ; good bat, especially with anoff -drive . S. Adams (13.3 ): Painstaking and reliable bat , but not avery finished style ; sound bowler with nice off -break . H. Warren (9.9 ) : Improved considerably ; dashing bat ; good field ; fair bowler . H. Handcock(8.8): Good but cramped defence ; must not think forward play synonymous with hitting ; in trying to get out of abad style has taken to slogging ; is in a transition stage ; next season will probably be very good again ; fine field ; good catch ; accu- rate bowler, with good pitch . Attimes a very useful man. off his legs . F. Bayly (3.7 ) : H. Ward(8.6): Good hitter ; fast bowler . G. S. Godfree (5.5 ): F. H. Rowley: A nexcellent field ; bats in goodstyle , and is verydangerousw h e nset . J. D. Macpherson : A capital field ; fair bat , though somewhat cramped in style ; auseful change bowler . P. M. Davies : Bowled on manyoccasions with great success ; a neat bat andshowed amarkedimprovement this year . H. N. Davies : Agood wicket -keeper ; at times very successful ; aresolute bat, andquite reliable in anemergency . C. E. Watling : Avery useful m a nall round ; afair change bowler ; a good field , and a steady bat. E. C. Lyons : Didvery good work as long- stop throughout the season ; his batting is greatly improved ; a promising cricketer . H. Williams : Avery neat field ; bats freely and in good style , though lacking somewhat in steadiness . F. Williams : A good field and a very steady bat; will be very useful with a little more experience . M. Glasse : Agood field . with a sure pair of hands ; a moderate bat. H. Stickney : A steady bowler; will do muchbetter whena little stronger ; bats with muchpluck ,and should do very well indeedwithmorepractice .
