Thomson : A beautiful bat on afast wicket, playing forward perfectly ; a fine player on the leg side ; backplay rather weak; very neat and smart in the field ; considering his team, a not unsuccessful captain . M. Berkley : On a slow wicket a good bowler, steady with a good break-back; a weakbut improving bat. J. A. Grant : Hasmadesomegood scores , thanks to his fine eye and vigorous hitting powers ; defence weak, as his bat is seldom straight ; has madea most useful bowler, never tiring ; a smart a n dsafe field . G. F. Scott : O nfast wickets the best bowlerin the eleven, fast, bumpy, and dangerous ; as a bat , lacks judgment ; has occasionally played well ; a safe field . W.M CDuguid: Quite a sound bat, buthas been unlucky ; cuts strongly , and should be good next year , if he can play straighter on the off stump. A. J. Laurie : Fell off as a bat towards the end of the season owing to the slower wickets ; can bowl a little ; a poor field . W. J. Riddell : A fairly successful bat, with a style of his own, playing neither forward nor back; poor judge of a run; in the field quick, but uncertain . R. H. Storey : In spite of a peculiar style , he has got runs more than he is worth ; the quickest field in the eleven, andthe worst thrower in. E. S. G. Mather: Ahitter , pure and simple , with little defence ; he has at times been most serviceable ; a steady bowler on the short side ; a very good out-field and catch , and the best thrower in the team. J. R. Reynolds : Athoroughly safe wicket -keeper of the long-stop order ; has a stubborn defence in a stiff style , as is proved by his numerous not outs. A. M. Mitchell : Astraight andsound bat as far as he goes , but lacks judgment whento play forward and whenback ; a safe but slow field . L O R E T T O S C H O O L . Captain for 1891 , W. P. Donaldson.
