McLaren (Captain) : His fame as a bowler is too well knownto need comment; in batting he has been most valuable at times , though hardly steady enough ; a good slip . P. C. Scott : H e has played somegood innings , and has a nice style , but lacks patience ; a smart field . G. C. Drake: Avery good bat and most consistent scorer , though he has a some- whatpeculiar style ; a safe out- field . H. M. Harbord : Heimproved as a bat towards the end of the season , and played some good innings ; as a bowler he has at times m e twith great success, thoughh e is variable ; fields well. A . E. Fichardt : He should make a very good wicket -keeper ; among Scotch school wicket-keepers he is quite the best ; he has been successful occasionally with the bat, but his defence is still weak. N. B. Gray: He shows great promise as a bat, but is too apt to over -reach himself forward and lift the balls ; hehas scored very steadily throughout , and fields very well . J. H. Murray: Hehas a very peculiar style of batting , but has on more than one occasion been invaluable to his side , and has fair defence ; as a field he has improved, but is still slow . R. W. M ' K a y: H ehas not fulfilled expectations as a bat, and does not play straight ; hehas bowled with fair success at times , and is a good field . F. Currie : Bats in very good style , though he is too impatient ; he always hits the ball clean , and hasscored well ; his fielding is improving . D.M.M'Barnet: Has been useful as a bat, and with the small amountof practice he has hadhas done very well ; a veryfair field . N. J. Fowlie : Avery good bowler for his size , but cannot bowl for long at a time ; at times he has donegreat execution ; his batting and fielding haveimproved. F E T T E SC O L L E G E .
