Wigram (Captain ) : Has no reason to complain of the success of the eleven during his captaincy ; he improved very m u c hin his batting , and could , and often did, play a good hard-hit innings ; his: bowling, however, hardly developed as muchas was hoped; a good field , and mostuseful m a non anyside . H. D. G. Leveson - Gower: Agood field at cover- point , making occasionally surprising mistakes ; he was the best bat in the eleven, playing with good judgmentand in really good style . J. R. Mason: A. medium-pace bowler , improved very much, and has had a successful season ; can playa good innings whenthe bowling is not too fast . * W. S. Case : Apains- taking, careful bat, and did well for his side during the season ; a safe catch , and goodfield ; canbowl slow left -hand, and was a useful change bowler. *R. L. Ricketts : A fair bat on the whole, but is particularly dangerous against fast bowling on a fast wicket ; an extremely good short -slip . L. O. Micklem : W a s quite out of form at the beginning of the year, but played some capital innings towards the end of the season ; a good point . G. W. Jackson : Can hit hard , and ought to be a good bat , but he lost his wicket frequently by trying to hit a straight ball round to leg ; a good m a nin the deep-field , though somewhat variable . *Hon. E. S. Scott : A really good school bat, as his average shows, with plenty of nerve and confidence ; as a rule was a goodfield . R. P. Lewis : Keptwicket very well during the season , and we hope to see him develop into a thoroughly first -class wicket -keeper ; he can hit very hard whenhe chooses , and hewill nodoubtm a k ea lot of runs next season. *L. W . S. Rostron : Amostuse- ful m a nto send in first , as he is patient and has a good defence ; his fielding has improved. H. J. Wigram: A useful , though not very difficult , change bowler ; w ethink he has some batting in him, and hope to see more of it next year. E. R. Morres : Proved himself a most useful manat a pinch , as bowler , field , and bat,
