Westray (Captain ) : A very good bat, being able to judge the length and pace of the ball ; he plays with a straight and upright bat, a good ground fielder at cover-point , and safe catch ; canbowl, andhas proved successful more than once in that department ; has a good knowledge of the game, and has therefore captained his eleven successfully . G. R. Bardswell : Has quite regained his old form . Bowls a wonderfully good length , varying his pace with good judgment; at the beginning of the year had entirely lost his batting , but played two good innings at the end of the season . Captain next year. W. M. Hemingway: Abrilliant bat, hitting very hard and clean,his cutting being especially fine , whilst he also has a fine forward stroke ; a magnificent field andcatch at extra -cover. A. P. Whitwell : Avery good bat on a hard wicket , cuts and plays forward well ; with a little more pluck ought to be really good; a good field at third man. *F. W. Westray : Began the season in a most inauspicious manner, but improved greatly as it advanced; a good bat, hitting well to leg ; a very good out-field , and safe catch . *T. C. Burlison : First to get his colours this year ; a very good wicket-keeper, decidedly above the average of school wicket -keepers ; a fair run-getting bat. C. E. M. Wilson : Ayoung and very promising cricketer ; bats in most perfect style , andwhenstronger should be first -class ; is also a good bowler, with a good length and very straight ; good field . S. A. Sharp : Bowls very fast andkeeps themwell on the off side ; has done excellent work for the team ; a useful bat, withplenty of defence . *G. F. B. James : A good bat with hitting powers ; a fair change bowler, and very good field . D. Smith : Ought to makea good cricketer ; has a good idea of batting , and can hit well ; a useful change bowler ; good field and catch . *E. A. Feild : Agood bat, with a good stroke off his legs ; an excellent catch and field .
