Burrough : Asteady and careful batsman, with afine off -drive , but rather pokycut ; is too apt to lift the ball , especially in leg -hitting ; has been an invaluable bowler ; afairly accurate but not faultless slip . W. Ruston : Has been rather disappointing with theball ; will bat with more certainty whenhegets steadier in his ground, times the ball better and improves his defence ; can drive and punish weakbowling ; a painstaking but uncertain field , whois deficient in smartness .
