Whitting : Apowerful bat, but not nearly so successful as last year ; a good fast , bumpybowler, making full use of his height and strength ; muchimproved in fielding , anddeserves great praise for his energy . P. F. Warner : A thorough cricketer ; bats in almost faultless style , and can hit very hard on the off side ; was never able to do himself justice , for fast bow but much food short owing to a severe strain . *H. D. Rendall : Avery useful though not a pretty not *C. Headlam : Kept wicket always satisfactorily , sometimes almost brilliantly ; spoils his batting by a too marked preference for the on side . *T. W. Rowley : Hasexcellent style , and is a really good bat at a net, but fails through nervousness in matches ; good ground field , but uncertain catch . *A. Ellis : Always keen and active ; a steady slow bowler , whocan keep up an end, but lacks variety ; weak bat . S. Slater : With more energy would become a really good cricketer ; a hard-hitting bat, and sometimes bowls very well indeed , but at present takes no interest in fielding . * W. Dixon : Apunishing bat , who only requires a little more defence to be a very dangerous one ; excellent field at cover . *J. L. Rushton : Fair bat, but does not watch the ball enough; good field . G. M. Thompson : Has all the makings of a very good cricketer ; only requires polish to develop him into a really sound bat andreliable fast bowler ; good field . *I. H. Nicholls : An unsound and uncertain bat ; muchtoo fond ofa pull ; an energetic field , with a good return . S H E R B O R N E S C H O O L . Captain for 1891 , A. W. F. Rutty. Resultsof M a t c h e s.
