Higson : Has improved immensely as a bat, playing with great patience and very good defence , cutting and driving well ; a dangerous bowler on a bumpywicket ; fair field , should attend moreto his throwing in ; has had a hard task as captain this year , but has performed it well . *F. A. Phillips : Oughtto develop into a first -class batsman if he takes care , being a really pretty bat with good defence and hitting powers , his cutting being especially fine ; is a very useful bowler with plenty of break , and uses his head; smart field . *E. Roberts : Was unluckily prevented from playing in several matches owing to exams.; a vastly improved wicket -keeper , being remarkably sharp behind the wicket ; ought to bring the ball to the bails more, but has latterly improved this fault ; a very useful bat. A. J. Berney : Has improved very muchthis year, and is a fairly good bat, though weak on his leg side; good slow bowler on his wicket ; excellent field at point . J. E. Fellows : At the beginning was in indifferent form , but since then has come on well in batting , playing several good innings with plenty of pluck ; moderate slow bowler, should pay more attention to pitch , and not try to bowl too fast ; very quick field in the slips , saving manyruns . A. W. Roberts : Though playing good cricket has failed to get manyruns ; plays very straight , but should hit harder; hasdeveloped into a good medium-pace bowler , breaking both ways; slack field . *W. W. Clarke : Plays with a good straight bat, with a good off stroke ; has fielded in the out -field remarkably well , with an almost sure pair of hands . *F. E. Proctor : Unluckily hampered by exams . in the middle of the season ; good bat, but should be quicker on off -balls ; fair field . E. W. Hutton : A most useful batsman , who plays in a style of his own ; should stand upmore to leg-balls , instead of drawing away to leg ; should run in to catches instead of waiting for them to drop . *W. H. Milne : Plays a good sound game, although he has not got many runs ; fair field as a rule . J. F. Mugliston : Though he has not done much this year, has the makings of a fair cricketer ; should be an excellent fast bowler next year and useful bat ; moderate field . R U G B YS C H O O L .
