1 2 4 LILLYWHITE'SCRICKETERS' ANNUAL, MARLBOROUGHELEVENIN 1891 .-*W. G. Druce (Captain ) : Agoodbat, with pretty style and excellent forward play, but was pursued by bad luck all through the season , so that his average by no meansrepresents his capabilities ; very good field at cover -point . C. Druce : Agood bat , with strong defence ; avery nice stroke onthe off , and can hit well to leg ; like his brother , failed to dohimself justice ; good wicket-keep. H. Marley : Very muchimproved as a bat, andis a veryuseful left -handbowler,keeping a good length . *C. A.Alington : Oneof the most useful m e nin the team; bats in anugly style ,but has a very stubborn defence , always makingruns, and greatly improved in hitting powerduring the season ; very safe field and catch . *E. F. Barber : Has good defence , but is too fondofplay- ing everything forward ; slow scorer ; must learn to play with more energy before he becomes really good. *W. L. Collins : A pretty bat, but without enough life in his play at present ; should be very good in a year or two when stronger ; safe field in the country . N. F. Druce : Avery promising bat, already one of the best in the eleven , with a nice style ; too slow on his legs ; will be a first -rate field at point . F. W. Laverton : Goodfast bowler, with nice action ; comes quickly off the ground ; with practice will make a useful bat. *L. E. Corbett : Useful mediumleft -hand bowler ; did not excel in other branches of the game. P. R. Creed : Avery promising bat, playing hard and straight ; with morecoaching should become a really good player . *A. H. Greg: A n erratic fast bowler, whogot a good manywickets ; good out-field , working very hard ; poor bat, hits hard, but has no idea of defence . R A D L E YC O L L E G E . Captain for 1891 , E. Y.
