Pope : Avery good slow bowler , uniformly successful throughout the season ; a very steady bat , often stayed in some time, but deficient in hitting powers ; a good captain , always keeping his head cool andhis menwell in hand. * W. B. Anderson : Goodall -round m a n; good free bat, with nice style , though often making a bad stroke when apparently well set ; capital fast bowler , but has been very unlucky ; splendid field any- where, especially at mid-off and short-slip . *J. C. Bevington : Fine hard- hitting bat, not in form early in the season , but came on later ; played a magnificent innings at Lord's ; in the field has often brought off a grand catch . M. Y. Barlow : Fine run -getting bat, scoring very fast when set ; played well throughout the season , his best innings being a really fine one at Lord's ; a trifle slow in the field , but generally safe ; Captain for 1892. A. I. Paine : Played several good innings during the term , being especially in good form about the middle of the season ; several times useful as a slow bowler ; capital field at mid-on. B. N. Bosworth - Smith : An admirable defensive bat , played several splendid innings during the term , notably against the Harlequins , I Zingari , and Eton; plays very straight , and times the ball perfectly ; bowls slow left , sometimes getting a wicket whenmost wanted. C. S. Rome: Avery promising cricketer ; good bat, playing an easy and confident game ; excellent bowler (mediumright ) ; improved greatly during the season . F. G. H. Clayton : Played one very good innings during the term ; nice easy bat, and useful in the field , but severely handicapped by the influenza . *J. T. Phelps : Very steady and patient batsman ; played a good innings against the Old Harrovians ; lacks agility in the field , but is generally to be relied on to hold a catch . *C. Andora : Painstaking wicket -keeper , very quick ; not successful with the bat . *C. S. Ridgeway : Afree -hitting bat ; made runs early in the season on slow wickets ; very good field in the country.aloshwoahut
