James Lillywhite's Cricketers' Annual 1892

1 1 2 LILLYWHITE'SCRICKETERS' ANNUAL. for themselves ; has a very dangerous rising ball on the off -side , and varies his pace well ; rather too fond of the leg -side ,which causes him to wanttwelve men in the field ; disappointing as a bat, whenhe sacrificed everything to trying to hit . A. D. Higgins : Improved from last year , but still an uncertain , unsound bat ,with some good strokes ; agood field , especially at point . H. S. Burnell : An ugly but fairly sound bat ; plays with confidence ; a poor bowler , who came off occasionally ; has far too manyloose balls for a slow bowler ; slow in the field . W. E. M. Tyndall : Abat with a very good style ; did well at the begin- ning, but failed at the end of the term ; should be useful next season ; a safe field , but can't throw in. T. G. Scott : Adisappointing bat who failed for three seasons to realize the promise shownat the net ; seemed to be coming on a bit at the end ; will , perhaps , improve with increased strength next year ; a good , quick ,hard-working field , the only one who threw in well ; must learn not to get too close in ; bowled at times for a weak bowling side . *H. A. Cumming : A fair change slow bowler , with an awkward action ; came off at times ; a poor though painstaking bat ; very weak in the field . G. D. Dahse : Aplucky bat , wantingin style ; once saved his side from defeat by a long stand for the last wicket ; should next year be useful as a change bowler . B R I G H T O N C L L E G E .
