Theobald (captain ) : Hard-hitting , but not very reliable bat ; good bowler , breaking both ways ; useful field anywhere , and sound judge of a run ; did not put himself on to bowl enough . R. F. C. de Winton : Fair bat, driving very hard when set ; good field and throw ; moderate change bowler ; can take the wickets . A. W. Fox: Useful , steady bat , but plays backtoomuch; hard-working field . A. H. Delme-Radcliffe : Useful , steady bat, with a good cut and a leg hit, but inclined to play forward too much ; safe field and good throw ; good bowler on his day . Č. J. R. Richards : Good left -hand bat, in spite of some bad tricks , especially on the leg -stump ; moderate fast left bowler ,deficient in work, but with good action ; could field well if he tried more. L. Mortimer : Very free bat , too muchso on first coming in ; has a bad back stroke and is somewhat inclined in the air ; useful field ,and occasional wicket -keeper . C. G. Littlehales : Very pretty and correct bat, but inclined to play back too much; good cut ; useful out -field and good throw . W. F. Watson : Veryuseful bowler ; keeps a good length and bowls very straight ; got wickets innearly every match ; very nervous field , but occasionally smart ; has a good eye . W. K. Stride : Useful bat , and might be really good but for his leg play ; lob bowler, but didn't have muchchance; fair field . M E R T O NC O L L E G E , O X F O R D . Captain , G. R. Wood.
