Wright: Has fallen off a great deal in batting , and has a much reduced average ; is a goodfield . W. G. Crum: Not such a good bat as last year ; a certain catch , but rather slow . J. C. Orr : Fair bat ; at times bowls well , having a good " yorker ." C. M. Wells : Splendid bat ; hits with great vigour all round , perhaps a little too rashly ; medium-paced right -hand bowler , with great variety of pace and break. M. G. Tollemache : Abatsman of great cutting anddriving powers ; a little weak on the leg side ; magnificent field at extra -cover or mid-off . A. R. Hoare : Very useful with both bat and ball ; should be a good field . J. C. P. Thompson : Has remarkable hitting powers, but not muchdefence ; fair field . L. R. T. Frere : Fair wicket -keep, at times very good ; moderate bat. C. F. Blain : Fast right -hand; did not come up to expectation as a bowler ; has not got a safe pair of hands.
