Streatfeild (Charterhouse and Pem- broke) :Agood change bowler and a first -rate field , particularly at short -slip ; hits hard, and a most useful manall round. R. N. Douglas (Dulwich and Selwyn) : Playedone magnificent innings of 131 at the beginning of the year, but did not afterwards fulfil the expectations formed of him; goodfield. G. McGregor (Uppinghamand Jesus): The best wicket -keeper in England, standing very close upandtaking the fastest bowling with the greatest ease , and without any unnecessary ostentation ; capital bat at a pinch , and a first -rate captain . S. M . J. Woods (Brighton and Jesus ) : One of the finest cricketers that ever came into the field ; a very fast right -handbowler , with quick break back ; alters his pace withgreat judgment; as a batsman always to be relied on, particularly when things are going against his side ; a sure catch , and equally good in any part of the field , and never tired , and plays the gameto the very end. C. M. Wells (Dulwich and Trinity ) : A good, sound all -round cricketer , but hardly came up tohis school reputation ; will no doubt improve . A. J. L. Hill (Marlborough and Jesus ) : A very useful cricketer ; good fast bowler , coming very quick off the pitch ; fair batsmanandgood field . D. L. A. Jephson (Private and Peter- house) : Goodchange bowler,capital field , andfair bat. F. S. Jackson (Harrow and Trinity ) : Ought to develop into a first -class cricketer ; fast right -hand bowler , good bat, and capital field . G. J. V. Weigall (Wellington and Emmanuel) : Agood field and fair batsman . C. P. Foley (Eton and Trinity ) : W a sof great value in the 'Varsity match, his cool and determined innings of 41 saving his side from a possible defeat ; moderate field . W. I.
