Oneof the very best all -round cricketers of the day; a reliable bowler on all wickets , with plenty of work, varies his pace and pitch with judgment ; a very dangerous bat at times , with plenty of hit ; a brilliant field anywhere, but was particularly successful at short -slip , where he madea numberof wonderful catches .
