Plucky wicket -keeper , and shows much promise ; must learn to rely less upon his pads on the off -side ; improving bat . FOWLER, G. (Clifton and Oxford). A most useful cricketer ; bowls very fast right -handwith high delivery ; is a powerful batsman, and in this depart- mentis of far more value than his average would imply. HEWETT, H. T. (Harrowand Oxford). One of the very best left -hand bats in England, hitting hard all round ; excellent point . Captain in 1889-90 , which post he filled with wonderful judgment. HEDLEY, W. C. (R.E. ) . Keeps perhaps the best length of all our amateur bowlers, fast right -hand, with plenty of spin and very straight ; is a fine hitter and quick field ; the Countywas unfortunate in being unable to secure his assistance more frequently . HILL, V. T. (Winchester ) . A free left -handedbat ; at short slip is muchabove the average ; can bowl very fairly . NEWTON, A. E. (Eton and Oxford) . Quite in the first rank of amateur wicket-keepers , standing well up to the fastest bowling : very useful and plucky bat, generally making runs whenwanted; good field anywhere. (M.C.C.
