(Charterhouse and Oxford ). Bats in excellent style , and is avery fair right -hand mediumbowler, and good field ; hashardly come up to expectations as an all-roundplayer. BUXTON, C. D. (Harrow and Cambridge ). Was in excellent form with the bat last season , and as brilliant as ever in the field ; captained the team with greatsuccess. FOWLER, HOWARD (Clifton and Oxford ). A tremendous hitter , but is seldom able to play. GOSLING, R. Č. (Eton and Cambridge). Bats in neat style , and will in all likelihood yet develop into a good batsman ; a sure field . GREEN, C. E. (Uppingham and Cambridge ). In his day a fine punishing bat, and good field ; a thorough judge of the game, and the mainstay of Essex cricket ; played but seldom last season . LUCAS , A. P. (Uppingham and Cambridge ) . One of the best batsmen of the day, playing in correct style and with great defence ; good field and useful slow b o w l e r. OWEN, H. G. Again kept up his reputation as a sound and careful batsman ; wasof the greatest service to the County. R O W E, F. E. (Marlborough and Cambridge). Asound bat, andgood field ; was ✓ of great service to the County. G L O U C E S T E R S H I R E . BELCHER, C. F. Avery promising batsman, playing a straight bat, and hitting hard; played good cricket against Kent; a medium-pace bowler, breaking bothways; moderate field . BRAIN, J. H. (Clifton and Oxford ). A fine bat , playing hard , and hitting well all round; played little last year ; brilliant field in the country . BUSH, J. A. (Clifton ). A safe wicket -keeper ; not successful as a bat ; only played during part of the season . CHARD, H. W. A medium-pace bowler, keeping a good length , and uses his h e a d. CRANSTON, J. A fine left -handed bat ; hitting very hard whenset ; was in brilliant f o r mlast season. CROOME, A. C. M. (Wellington and Oxford). A useful all -round cricketer ; hits very hard; a good field , and at times of service as a change bowler. EVANS, D. L. (Loretto ). Apromising youngcricketer ; bats steadily andwell. FRANCIS, G U Y(Cheltenham). Auseful all-round cricketer ; fair bat. FRANCIS, H. H. Very steady bat, but lacks energy in the field ; muchtoo fond of his o w nscore. GRACE, E. M. Still a very effective bat, with a good eye for hitting ; plays in a style of his own; a splendid field . GRACE, W. G. Still one of the very best batsmen of the day; hits all round freely , and times the ball with extraordinary precision ; bowls with great success , having a high delivery , andvarying his pace and pitch with great judgment; a brilliant field anywhere, and never loses interest in the game; played up to his best form last year. GRIFFITHS, E. L. (Rossall ). A very steady bat ; a fine field , and sure catch . LEATHAM, A. E. (Cambridge ) . Agood field close to the wicket , but not safe in the long-field ; bowls left round medium. MOBERLY, W. O. (Rugbyand Oxford) . A first -class bat, drives with great power, and hitting well all round ; a brilliant field ; plays little first -class cricketn o w. M U R D O C K, E. G. A useful all-roundcricketer . • NEWNHAM, A. (Malvern ). Agood fast round -arm bowler , and likely run-getter ; was, unfortunately , absent from England last season .
