R. B. Pearson : A correct bat, but except in one innings hardly madeenough runs ; a safe but slow field , and avery steady bowler , generally hard to score off . W. P. Donaldson : His bowling was not much wanted this year ; a good point , butanunaccountablefailure as a bat. Stuart Paton: A fair batat thebegin- ning of the season , but lack of energy seemed to spoil both batting and fielding ; whenhe did not bowl no-balls , his lobs were sometimes successful . D. M'Lachlan: Awicket -keeper muchabove our average ; sometimes madea useful score , and bowled grubs . A. G. Cochran : A steady bat, and played several useful innings , beginning with Rossall ; a very slow field . A. C. Messer : A fair bat; a neat and safe field . J. A. Moncrieff : Agood long -field , and sure catch ; a poor bat ; bowled effective grubs in onematch. J. S. Napier : Agood field , and made some runs . C. E. Comrie - Thomson : Avery energetic and lively field ,but not very clean with his hands ; had no pretensions as a bat. J. A. Smith : A useful long-field , and a good catch ; a poor bat.
