T H EUNIVERSITIESA N DP U B L I CSCHOOLSIN 1890. 1 6 7 REPTONELEVENIN 1890.-C. B. Fry (Captain ) : Abatsmanof great merit ; plays straight andhard, and is most difficult to get ; a good field anywhere ; occasionally bowled with great success . *R. C. N. Palairet : Throughout the school season proved himself a brilliant and reliable bat ; a grand field ; ought to makehis markin first -class cricket . * T. Horton : Played one or two really good innings , but as a rule failed to do himself justice in foreign matches . *E. W .Bellhouse : Has a safe pair of hands ; sometimes knocked up a few runs , but wasnotnearly so successful as in the previous year. *A. H. Marshall : A very badjudgeof a run ; often sacrificed his wicket most foolishly ; a stylish bat, butwantingin power; at times bowled well , and could always be relied on in the field . *C. F. Blain : On his day a really good fast bowler ; a reckless bat, and dashing hitter ; a very poor field . *E. V. Fox: Played but little ; was fairly useful with the ball , and could generally be trusted to score a few runs . *H. A. Simpson : Aslow , left -hand bowler of great natural ability , and more than once came off "; with experience and coaching would probably have becomevery good; uncertain in the field , and useless as a bat. J. M. Young : Averypromising slow bowler , who only needs practice to be quite first -rate ; a slow field ; has some batting ability , though as yet undeveloped . A. C. S. Glover : W a sunfortunately prevented from playing for some weeks in the height of the season ; has undoubted capacity , and would probably have trained into a high-class batsman. F. E. Bryant: Practised with praiseworthy dili- gence, and often maderuns just when they were wanted; a slow bat ; much improved field . 6 6 R O S S A L L S C H O O L . Captain for 1890 , T. A. Higson.
