Etlinger : Proved a good captain , keeping his team well together ; a good bat, though he did not always meet with success ; several of his innings were really first rate ; a good slow bowler , using his head; a very sure field . *A. E. Cheales : Owingto constant and in- dustrious practice developed into a very fine bat , especially on the off side ; an excellent outfield , and perfectly safe catch . *E. T. Shorland : Much improved as a bat and played some capital innings , hitting up runs quickly just when wanted ; steady useful medium-paced bowler . W. G. Druce : Avery good bat with a pretty style ; prevented bya badhandfrom taking the wicket , his proper place ; a very useful and safe field anywhere . *H. H. McNamara: A really good fast bowler , breaking back very quickly ; first -rate field at mid-off , and most useful bat . G. M. Addie : Made a good many runs during the season , but is by no means a finished bat yet , very weak on the off stump ; he hits hard , and with care should be very good next year ; excellent cover -point . *J.
