EXETERELEVENIN 1890 .--R. F. C. de Winton : As a bat has been unlucky ; hits hard, and scores rapidly whenset ; bowls round-arm, medium-pace, with a break fromthe off ; frequently proved a very effective change ; an excellent field , and admirable captain . G. R. Theobald : The best all-round m a nof the team; a good bat, with some very pretty strokes ; a medium-pace, round-arm bowler, w h oat times was almost irresistible ; a good field anywhere. С. Т. Smith : A neat and steady bat, playing very straight , and seldom taking liberties ; bowls right -handed, with a high delivery , and has been knownto get wickets ; a brilliant field at point . A. W . Fox: Avery good bat, watching the ball carefully ; his back play is particularly good , but he is apt to throw away his wicket through recklessness ; a marvellously -improved field ; as a bowler is ambidextrous , but usually occasions joy and confidence to the batsmen when trundling . D. W. Wheeler : Correct but unsuccessful batsman , lacking confi- dence and nerve for punishing ; a peculiar bowler , with a phenomenal break bothways, but uncertain as to the pitch of his balls ; a very good field . A. H. Delme -Radcliffe : Avery useful all -round man; a good, sound bat, hitting well to leg; has been of good service as a bowler, his change of pitch and pace having been frequently deceptive ; not excessively devoted to exertion in the field . C. J. R. Richards : Avery fine left -handed batsman, combining defence withhitting powers ; has, however, a bad habit of getting his leg in front of the wicket ; bowls fast long hops from a high over -hand delivery , which occasionally are successful o nhardwickets; fields well w h e nso inclined . L. Mortimer: Good but somewhat lucky bat ; hits very hard , and has some beautiful strokes onthe off ; good out-field , and useful as a wicket -keeper . C. R. Clark : A very hard-working , energetic , and valuable field ; with coaching would become a good batsman , possessing , as he does , a good eye and considerable hitting powers ; as a bowler is rather too erratic . C. G. Littlehales : Avery effective and vigorous bat ; has one or two particularly good strokes on the off ; a very slow field . W. F. Watson : A useful bowler , with an alarming action ; has
