Bassett (St. Catharine's ) : A medium-pace left -hand bowler , straight , and can keep up an end ; gets runs if the bowling is not too fast ; moderate field . G. F. H. Berkeley (Wellington and Keble): Agood left -hand medium-pace bowler ; curls in the air a good deal ; difficult to play on his day ; fair bat and field . H. C. Bradby (Rugby and New) : Agoodbat, hits well , and safe field . M. J. Dauglish (Harrowand Magdalen) : Keeps wicket well sometimes , but very uncertain . M. R. Jardine (Fettes and Balliol , captain for 1891 ) : A good bat, with strong defence , but plays back too muchon the fast wickets ; a beautiful field , with good return ; can bowl slow round at a pinch . W. D. Llewelyn (Eton and N e w) : A pretty bat ; cuts and drives very well ; ought to be very good next season ; good field . L. C. H. Palairet (Repton and Oriel ) : Afine baton a good wicket ; drives especially well ; agood field , and fair change bowler . H. S. Schwann ( Clifton and Corpus): A thoroughly sound bat , with strong defence ; played some good innings for the University ; fields fairly well . E. Smith (Clifton and University ) : A capital all -round cricketer ; dangerous fast bowler ; fine hitter , and splendid field . Hon. F. J. N. Thesiger (Winchester and Magdalen ) : The captain of the eleven , and a very good one too ; a good bat, though somewhatcramped in style ; cuts well ; a beautiful field , being both quick and safe ; discovered in the ""Varsity match" that he could bowl. G. L. Wilson (Brighton and Hertford ) : Amuch better bat than his average shows ; hits hard, but too fond of trying to do some- thing with every ball ; usually a safe field .
