Bowls a medium-pace ball with a good break from either side , and has the reputation of being the best short -slip in America. REYNOLDSD. BROWN(Germantownand Harvard College Clubs). Born M a y6, 1869. A good batsman, combining a stubborn defence with fine hitting powers. A fair fast bowler and reliable field . EDWARDW . CLARK, JUN. (YoungAmerica Club). Born in Philadelphia , M a y17, 1857 ; stands five feet eleven inches . A determined batsman, a mode- rately good fast bowler, and a capital field . NEWBOLDETTING (Merion Club). Born in Philadelphia , August 23, 1863 ; is five feet seven inches in height . A very hard hitter ; a fine field anywhere. WILLIAMC. MORGAN, JUN. (GermantownClub). Born January 31 , 1865 ; is five fest five inches in height . Agood bat and first -class wicket -keeper . DANIEL S. NEWHALL (Young America Club , the captain ). Born April 7, 1849. Stubborn bat, and punishes loose bowling heavily . Is wonderfully quick in the field , a sure catch , and canbowl slow, round or lobs , as necessity demands, Mr. Newhall is five feet seven inches in height . CHARLES R. PALMER (Young America Club ). Born July 11 , 1866 ; height , five feet eleven inches . H ehits hard, and usually gets runs ; is a fast bowler of more than average skill , having both curve and break. As a field he has few superiors . GEORGE STUART PATTERSON (GermantownClub). Height, six feet one inch . The finest all -round cricketer in America . He plays with the utmost patience , but can hit whenrequired . Also a fine medium-pace bowler andgood field. JOSEPH W. SHARP (Merion Club) is twenty-two years of age ; measures five feet ten inches in height . Owes his place in the team principally to his ability as a trundler . Agood and generally effective fast bowler. Bats in good style , and cangenerally be relied uponfor a moderate score ; also a safe field . DAVID P. STOEVER (Belmont Club). Born September 16, 1861. Hits with great power , especially on the leg side . Bowls fast round with a high delivery and a good break from the off . WALTERSCOTT (Belmont Club ). Born at Huntingdon , Pa., April 19 , 1864 ; stands five feet eight inches . A very good bat, watching the ball care- fully . Hehas been regarded as a representative batsman . Bowls slow , with break from either side , and was at times very successful . Fine field . ARCHIEGRAHAMTHOMSON(Merion Club), measures five feet ten inches in height . A brilliant bat, and can score freely against almost any kind of bowling . Oflate has also developed as a bowler, and is an exceptional out-field . H. P. BAILY (Haverford College and Marion Club ). A good slow bowler and improving bat. Reliable field .
