Died from an injury received while playing football.- January 13. DIXON, ERNEST RICHER (Winchester ), (34). Played for the Bickley Park and Bexley Clubs ; would have been a fine cricketer if he had hada chance in good cricket . Was drowned at HawkesBayin trying to save a companion from drowning.-January 9. D UCANE, SIR CHARLES (64). Aliberal supporter of cricket . Hada pretty ground of his own at Braxted Park, near Witham. Madehis first appearance at Lord's about 1825. Subsequently played in the first Oxford and Cambridge match on record (1827 ) for the Oxford side .
