Rose (19): Apowerful all-round bat, but a little too muchin- clined to pull off the leg stump; good change bowler ; safe catch in the long field . A. G. Purves (18.3 ) : Captain of the eleven . Areliable fast bowler, whohas done good service this season; adashing but not always safe bat ; fair field . G. P. G. Hoare (15) : Very steady bat , andgets runs slowly , but keeps up his wicket ; a fair , and occasionally a good, field . S. B. Noakes (14.1 ): Will someday makea very sound batsman; avery good left -handbowler ; in- clined to be slow in the field . E. Patey (12.4 ): Has kept wicket excellently this season ,and should become brilliant in this department ; a promising left -hand bat. H. T. Thomson (12.1): Avery good wicket -keeper ; fair field ; improved bat. S. W. Marshall (11.2): Bats in capital style ,and with morepower and nerve will do uncommonlywell ; avery sound little field at cover . A. T. Spens (9.2) : Hits hard,but often sacrifices his wicket ; hashardly come upto expectations as a bowler ; fair field . R. H. Knight (8.2 ) : His cricket has improved all round, gives signs of making a reliable bat. G. Anderson (3) : As a batsman his style is peculiar ; a sharp little field at point . B. Baker (1): A difficult left -handbowler, with a puzzling leg-break,but sends downan occasional loose one; would muchimprove as a bat if h ewouldbemoresteady ; fair field .
