Street (Captain ) : A good bat, with anextremely pretty style , and a steady bowler ; was occasionally wanting in judgmentin placing his m e n; fair field . *R. E. Olivier : Failed as a bat during the first part of the season , but played a brilliant innings against Charterhouse ; avery fair wicket -keeper . *P. Armitage : A good, steady bat, with animmense reach , and a splendid field at point . H.R. Blaker (Captain , 1890) : A good but uncertain bat ; hits hard all round the wicket , and has an extremely powerful stroke on the off ; good out -field , and splendid thrower . J. D. Gifford : The " stonewaller " of the team, and is muchmore useful than his average would imply ; a very good bowler, and fair field . *S. H. Gregory : A very useful m e m b e rofthe team; a goodbat, butshould learn to cut ; a very useful bowler, butonly cameoff at the end of the season ; a fair field . *H. E. Oliver : A very steady bat ; played one good innings during the season ; a poor field . J. О. Т. Powell : A good little bat, and a very fair bowler, though he overbowled himself at the end of the season ; an uncertain field . *B. J. Southey : A good hard-hitting bat, and but for his nervousness would score largely ; a fair bowler. *C . H. Gregory : A very hard hitter , but has not much style about him ; a good field , anda fair change bowler. J. A.
