Bathurst : The best all -round man in the team ; gets a good deal of work on the ball , and avery steady bat ; a little too cramped in style ; a good field , and fair catch . *H. E. F. Sich : Very muchimproved as a bat, both in defence and hitting power ; is a good field , and canbowl, though he is too fond of sacrificing pitch to pace . A. L. Nelson : Has beenout of form all the season ; very weakindeed in off -strokes ; makes all his runs on the leg-side ; moderate field , and poor catch ; as a wicket -keeper , very valuable . *H. S. Laird : A fair bat andbowler, andan improved ground field ; not a safe catch . W. R. Stratton : Improved as a bat ; gone off as a bowler ; is very stiff to look at batting , but plays straight , and has a good cut behind the wicket ; poor catch . *J. P. G. Draper : Avery painstaking , steady bat ; must tryto score more off loose balls ; fair field and catch . *F. Marshall : Fast right- hand ; has disappointed us ; too erratic ; has little idea where his balls will pitch ; good field , and hits very hard ; should have made a bat, as he certainly has morebatting in him than bowling. F. D. Wright: Bowls very fair lobs , whichwere very effective v. Bradfield ; a steady bat, and good on off -side ; but he is very crampedon leg-side ; a fair wicket -keeper and field . E. Y. Orlebar : Verypromising ; a fast and consistent scorer , playing with a very straight bat, andhitting hard to leg ; can bowl, and should be very useful with another year's growth. E. W. H. Theobald : Improved very muchtowards end of season ; can hit very well to leg ; must get out of the wayof kicking up with one leg and standing on the other while playing back; fair field ; catches better in practice t h a ni nm a t c h e s.
