Wills (for his catch at Lord's ). HARROWELEVEN IN 1889.-W. B. Anderson : A capital right -handbowler , keeping very straight , with good length ; excellent field , andfair bat. Α. Η. Μ. Butler : Agood bat, andwill improve ; a very fair field , and moderate wicket- keeper (unfortunately could not play at Lord's owing to a cut hand). R. S. Chaplin : Apainstaking cricketer ; a fair bat, and will improve ; poor field , must practise catching . *R. B. Hoare : Agood all -round cricketer ; bats well , hitting veryhard; fields well , and very fair slow right bowler . *F. S. Jackson (Capt.): A fine all -round cricketer ; good bat , both for defence and hitting , espe- cially strong on the on-side ; fast and straight right -hand bowler, though at times rather short -pitched ; an excellent field anywhere . A. C. MacLaren (Capt. , 1890) : A n excellent cricketer , but rather unlucky ; a good bat and excellent field , with perfectly safe pair of hands ; bowls a little . D. R. Napier : Agood left -hand bat, with great patience ; also bowls slow left ; a fair field , but rather slow . A. Neame : A fair bat, and will no doubt improve ; good field incountry . G. Pope : Acapital medium-paced right -hand bowler (with a lot of spin) ; a good field and fair bat, rising quickly from the pitch . H. M. Peebles : Afair bat and good field , with a safe pair of hands ; a very fair lob bowler. *C. P. Wills : A very painstaking cricketer ; capital bat , playing very straight ; a very fair point ; bowls a little . J.
