Brain: H a sm u c himprovedas a bat; still rather wanting in vigour ; is very useful at the wickets , and has made m a n ycatches standing back; he has hada difficult task in the choice and managementof the eleven . B. F. Hanson: Is a fine upstanding bat, and hits well; has improved very muchin all his play ; a very good field . F. C. S. Norrington : Attempted to play a steady game, and did not quite get into it ; sometimes cuts very finely ; bowls steadily , and is difficult onabumpywicket ; still rather slowin the field . E. Field : Is a mostuseful m e m b e rof the eleven ; he is a very steady and correct bat, a fair bowler, anda good andhard-working field . *R. C. Milward : Bowls fast , and sometimes very well for a short time, butis rather careless ; he is a poor bat, and fair field . *B. Cayley : Is a steady and generally successful bat, always playing the game; fields fairly . *E. Rowley: Plays steadily and correctly ; he has been prevented from hitting muchbyaninjured arm; a fair field . H. B. Richardson : One of the most promising cricketers in the eleven ; bats and fields well , and with great coolness , andbowlsslow round-hand. E. S. Thomas : Hits hard, but wouldhit harder if heplayed straighter ; useful against inferior bowling ; should improve his fielding . B. M. L. Brodhurst : Is likely to be a dangerous bowler as he gets stronger ; bowls fast , keeping a good length whennot tired , and has some break; could bat better than he does; very slow indeed in the field . L. Mortimer : Is a very fair bat, anda good field . E T O NC O L L E G E . Captain for 1889 , H. R. Bromley Davenport. Resultsof M a t c h e s. Matches Played , 10 ; Won, 3 ; Drawn, 3 ; Lost , 4.
