8 2 LILLYWHITE'SCRICKETERS' A N N U A L. spare . At the end of an innings Notts, in spite of a fine score of 78 by G u n n, hadonly a lead of 34 runs , and for this they were indebted to a good stand b y the last two batsmen, Richardson and Sherwin. The chief credit of Derby- shire's first total of 190 was due to Messrs , S. H. Evershed (51) and Eadie (50), andthe same pair wereresponsible for onehalf of the runsfromthe bat in the second , though in the latter their share was only 46, and the aggregate , exclusive of " extras ," 93. At the close , Notts had 71 to win, and Gunn, who scored 128 in the match for once out, and Shrewsbury knocked them off in a n hour, 50 from the bat of the former and 24 of the latter . Notts wonbyten wickets . Notts, 224 and 74 (no wicket) ; total , 298. Derbyshire , 190 and 104 ; total , 294. O v e r s. Attewell (Derbyshire 2nd innings ) 19 . . . . Maidens, R u n s. Thoughthey again wonthe toss , the Derbyshire batsmen generally failed before the bowling of Attewell , Richardson , and Shacklock , and the only display worthy of notice was that of Mr. L. G. Wright, whocarried his bat through the innings for 54 out of 92 from the bat. Notts in their turn only made a moderate start , but the tail showed upwell , and the last half of the innings realized 113 of the total of 183. Derby- shire did even worse when they went in a second time , as Attewell and Richardson bowled without a change, and Chatterton was highest scorer with 12. Attewell's bowlingw a soneof quite the best features of the match. Inall he took 11 wickets at a cost of only 59 runs. Notts wonbyan innings and 26 runs . Notts , 183.
